On October 24, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a symposium on the training of high-level young talents. Han Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of the Ministry, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. He stressed that we must earnestly study and understand the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of important speeches on strengthening the training and use of young scientific and technological talents, implement the deployment of the Central Talent Work Conference, promote agricultural science and technology, talents, and education in an integrated manner, adhere to the coordinated efforts of "attracting, cultivating, retaining and employing", take high-level young talents as the guide, build a strong team of young talents in the agricultural and rural system, and accelerate the formation of a vivid situation with a good ecology, a gathering of talents, strong skills, and people making the best use of their talents, so as to provide strong talent support for promoting the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas and accelerating the construction of an agricultural power.

At the meeting, 15 high-level young talents in the agricultural and rural system introduced their personal growth experiences and put forward suggestions for the work of young talents. The main leaders of 5 employers in the ministry system exchanged relevant practices on the training of young talents. Han Jun emphasized that talents are the first resource, and young talents are the most innovative and dynamic force in the talent team. Building an agricultural power and promoting the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas are inseparable from a large number of young talents with ideals, courage to take responsibility, and willingness to struggle. In recent years, the team of young talents in the ministry system has continued to grow and has played an important role in major agricultural science and technology research, major policy research, news publishing, engineering planning and other fields. However, compared with the requirements of building a strong agricultural country, there are still shortcomings in the number of leading talents, the structure of the talent team, and the supporting measures for training incentives. We must attach great importance to it, further strengthen measures, improve systems, plan practical and effective grasping carriers, and make great efforts to solve them.

Han Jun emphasized that it is necessary to establish and improve institutional mechanisms that are conducive to the rapid growth and emergence of young talents, steadily increase basic support projects, increase the inclination of competitive projects, solve the problem of lack of stable support for young scientific and technological talents in the early career of the ministry system, and accelerate the establishment of a talent evaluation system oriented to innovation ability, quality, effectiveness, and contribution. Young talents should be consciously and systematically allowed to serve as the backbone of the team and take the lead, and smooth the growth channel for young talents. We must let go of more burdens, let young talents play the leading role in agricultural science and technology research, take on important tasks in serving the grassroots, and grow up in the main battlefield of rural revitalization. We must fully authorize the employers, untie and empower young talents, scientifically set the evaluation and assessment cycle of young talents, and promote young talents to spend their main time on scientific research and business activities.

Han Jun demanded that we should do a good job in the service and guarantee work for young talents with heart, emotion and strength, pay more attention to and trust in ideological and political aspects, create more conditions for learning and communication, care and encourage more in daily life, and solve problems for young talents. We should further strengthen the construction of young cadres and talents in the ministry system, adhere to the integrated planning of the whole chain of selection, training, management and use, and continuously optimize the age and professional structure of the cadres and talents. We should adhere to the principle of putting the cause first and selecting people based on the job, vigorously select young cadres and talents with strong political integrity, solid work style, courage to take responsibility, outstanding performance, and integrity, and reflect the requirements of "loyalty, professionalism, and honesty" and "diligence, integrity, and honesty" in the actual work of selecting and employing people. We hope that young talents will have the "big things of the country" in mind, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, cultivate strong skills, maintain a solid work style, consciously practice and promote the spirit of scientists, focus on national strategic needs and urgent industrial needs, identify the research direction and focus, dare to assume responsibilities and missions, and truly write papers on the land.
